This year at the 5th Annual Dream Extreme, STEPS to End Family Violence will honor Laura Pozvolska Nicklas for her dedication and commitment to helping children and families across the globe.

Laura was born in Latvia, the Baltic Region of Northern Europe and as a teenager, she moved to New York with her family. After receiving her Undergraduate Degree in Fine Arts from New York University, followed by an Associate Degree in Interior Design from New York School of Interior Design, Laura worked in the field of commercial design while completing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Laura’s interest in the field of family services emerged from her own personal experience after relocating to the U.S. as an adolescent. She identifies with the challenges that surround major life transitions for children and adults alike, finding it incredibly rewarding to be a part of the healing process.

More recently Laura established Ychelle Inc., a boutique design firm specializing in unique eclectic styles. Her involvement with various non-profits include the Happy Hearts Foundation, Association of Community Employment Programs, Angel Foundation, and Meals on Wheels. Laura’s travel to various parts of Africa, have inspired her to get involved with several causes in the region, especially organizations focused on children and empowerment of families. Laura and her husband Brent reside in New York City.
